The TELCO sector must address a wide range of issues – take on the digital revolution, and adapt to new market trends including the transition to client identity verification during remote SIM or eSIM card sales.
Secure identity verification is now a crucial part of online security in TELCO sector, and it presents entirely new difficulties for mobile operators. In care and sales situations where the usage of the validated customer identification is necessary, such as in new customer onboarding or sensitive data access in the personal account, the identity verification procedure is also crucial.
Slovak Telekom is a 100% subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, a global leader in providing telecommunication services. In 2022, Slovak Telekom provided fixed network and mobile services to more than 3 million customers.
Slovak Telekom was looking for a way to onboard customers digitally in order to improve sales through digital channels without requiring real customer presence. The first phase’s main goal was to have a process in place for a brand-new prepaid consumer. Because a SIM card can be used nearly immediately after purchase, remote verification from a commercial standpoint enables the expansion of SIM card sales channels to additional partners and enhances customer experience.
“In cooperation with SOFTEC we have brought the NFINITY solution, which is secure, simple, convenient. It is used in the banking sector and in the insurance industry as well.” Peter Pastier (Tribe Lead Pay As You Go, Slovak Telekom)
Numerous clients in the telecommunications, banking, and insurance sectors utilize NFINITY because it fulfills the high standards for safety and reliability. Thanks to the SaaS solution‘s ready-made mobile identity verification component and ease of integration, Slovak Telekom can deploy and integrate this solution extremely quickly. “We managed to deliver the first phase with SOFTEC in 6 weeks, which is very fast. With NFINITY we now have a solution which is technically ready to be used not only for the prepaid scenario, but can be extended also for other use cases.” says Róbert Hvorečný.
Making a selfie and taking an ID photo are both required as part of the new onboarding procedure, which runs a liveness check on the consumer in the background. It is user-friendly, secure, and doesn’t need any help from the employees.
We chose NFINITY solution and SOFTEC as a partner based on their references and because the solution was ready for integration, as the time-to-market was a significant factor for us. We wanted to have a production-ready pilot asap to gather the feedback from customers before the full commercial rollout.
